Dr Loshni Govender

Dr Loshni Govender is the Executive Director Human Resources at the University of Mpumalanga.  She has 15 years of experience in the higher education sector indicative of her demonstrated experience in education leadership and management.  Before joining the University of Mpumalanga, Dr Govender held senior management HR roles at Rhodes University, Nelson Mandela University and Walter Sisulu University.  This, together with private sector and management consulting experience has ensured that she has developed strong human resource management expertise, education management and business acumen. 

Dr Govender holds a PhD in Public and Development Management from Stellenbosch University.  Her PhD study led to the development of the South African Regulatory Value Aligned Human Resources Model, which is relevant to the South African context and global south.  Her other qualifications include a Master’s degree in Education, Honours BA Degree in Industrial Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Industrial Psychology and Political Science. Further qualifications include postgraduate studies in Education, Management and Labour Law.  Her research areas are human resources management, education management and women in leadership.
