Dr Sweta Patnaik is a Senior Lecturer, Teaching & Learning Coordinator and Curriculum Officer in the Department of Clothing and Textile Technology, Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment at CPUT, Cape Town. She has years of experience when it comes to teaching learning and curriculum development. She has developed various undergrad and post-grad qualifications including Master’s & PhD students. Her research interests are around waste management, technopreneurship, sustainability, e-learning and supply chain management which she publishes nationally and internationally. She has earned multimillion rand research funding from various national platforms including the Dept of Science and Innovation, the National Research Foundation and CSIR. She has received an NRF Y2 rating from the National Research Foundation as an internationally established researcher within the under-40 category.
She has won the Nelson Mandela University Alumni Rising Star Award 2020 as well as the first recipient of the prestigious DAAD UNILEAD scholarship 2021 in her current institution CPUT. She is the recipient of the Institutional Teaching Excellence Award 2022. She is the Editorial Advisory Board Member for the Journal of Applied Research in Higher Education and a member of the ISO South African Bureau of Standards committee. She has been working on various entrepreneurship projects and has recently 2022 2023 won various category awards through them at the European Conference of eLearning (eLearning excellence category awards), Brighton, UK and the European Conference of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Innovation and Entrepreneurship Teaching Excellence Award), Portugal, respectively
