Gail Hopkins is Professor of Neuroinclusive Education in the School of Computer Science, University of Nottingham. She has extensive experience of supporting and working with students with a range of disabilities, challenging situations and mental health difficulties, day-to-day, providing support and recommending ongoing adjustments as situations change.
She has been Disability Liaison Officer in the school for over 20 years and currently Co-Chairs the University of Nottingham Disability Liaison Officers network, supporting staff throughout the university in their disability support roles.
She was Senior Tutor in the School of Computer Science for over 10 years and chaired the school’s Extenuating Circumstances Panel for five years. Her expertise includes support of neurodivergent students in education.
Her interests and current research include understanding how teaching and assessment styles might be tailored to support inclusivity, looking at the barriers and enablers to accessing education for students with different cognitive profiles and for students from overseas as well as understanding the role of feeling a sense of belonging for overseas students’ education.
