Hyppolite Mouaffo is a lecturer in the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES). He has been teaching at UMES since 2020. He has also taught hospitality and tourism courses at Stratford University for 6years and at University of District of Columbia WDLL for 7years.
Professor Mouaffo holds a “Diplome Universitaire de 3e cycle” in International Law of Environment, from University of Limoges - France, a master’s in business law from University of Yaoundé - Cameroon a MBA from Strayer University-Washington DC and a UNWTO Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Tourism Development from Georges Washington University.
Hyppolite is also PhD candidate in Organizational Leadership from University of Maryland Eastern Shore. His research interests focus on leadership , succession planning, diversity and inclusion in the workplace, Turnover Intentions and legal issues within organizations. He has presented at many national and international conferences including the ICHRIE in Montreal, SBCU conference in Houston, NSMH in Daytona Beach, ATA in Buea-Cameroon.
Prior to his academic career, professor Mouaffo worked as legal advisor for 5years . He also held many leaderships position in the hospitality and tourism industry for 10 years.
At UMES, professor Mouaffo teaches courses in Hospitality and tourism management , Research, Leadership and professional development . He is the Chair of the curriculum committee for the HTM department, a faculty advisor for the UMES chapter of the National Society for Minorities in Hospitality.
He is a member of many community-based, professional and academic organizations including the Association of Black in Higher Education, NEWH- the hospitality industry network, Washington DC chapter, African Travel Association, Community Renewal International, Lemou- Bafou USA, Boh Fo Nkong USA.
In his spare time, Professor Mouaffo enjoys traveling, dancing, watching soccer, taking pictures and spending time with his family. He is an advocate for sustainability and expanding training and educational opportunities in underserved communities.
Professor Mouaffo strives to bring real-world perspectives from his legal, business and hospitality background into the classroom. His students appreciate his engaging teaching style and practical knowledge of managing people and organizations.
