Prof Shalini Dukhan is an Associate Professor at the School of Animal, Plant and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Science, Wits University in Johannesburg, South Africa.  Her research focuses on exploring lecturer and student approaches and practices to improve learning within undergraduate biology classes, with a core focus on identity development in biology. 
 
She has also done work on student career aspirations in the Sciences at high school, undergraduate, and postgraduate level.  She has supervised students to graduation in pure Sciences and Science Education.
