The 2024 International Higher Education Teaching and Learning Association Conference will be hosted by the Nelson Mandela University in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, South Africa.

The Eastern Cape province in South Africa is the home to Nelson Mandela, one of the world’s greatest stateman to have ever lived. Situated in a game reserve, and in the backdrop of the Indian Ocean, Nelson Mandela University is the only university named after this icon.
This is the first Conference’s appearance in the African continent since its inception in 2010. Building on the successes of the previous Conferences, especially the 2023 Aberdeen Conference, the 2024 Conference explores the manifestations of the transformative role of universities in society.

The following conference registration fee structure is applicable:
Registration Fee
Early Bird (Registration by 30 June 2024): R8 000
HETL Membership (Membership is current and fully paid): R8 000
Normal (Non-HETL Members): R9 000
Student: R4 500
The registration fee includes:

Any other refreshments not included on the programme
No refunds but you are most welcome to send a substitute at no extra cost.
An official invoice will subsequently be emailed to you to confirm your successful registration.

Accommodation And Transport
All costs (travel, accommodation, subsistence) related to your participation in the conference must be covered by the participant, regardless of the proposal acceptance.

Special rates were negotiated with The Boardwalk Hotel & Convention Centre. We have limited rooms (standard rooms) available at R2 151 per person per night for single accommodation and R2 426 per room for sharing accommodation (double occupancy).
There are other accommodation options also available in the area.

The Chief Dawid Stuurman International Airport, formerly known as Port Elizabeth International Airport, is serving Gqeberha and surrounding areas.
Should there be adequate interest, the Administrators will arrange group transfers to/from the airport to the hotels and the conference venue.
