Dr Lindsay Kelland is a feminist philosopher working on transforming pedagogy within ethics, philosophy, and Higher Education. She has been intimately involved in the design and facilitation of the university’s flagship engaged ethics course—'IiNtetho zoBomi: Conversations About Life’ for the past decade. Further to philosophy of education, her research also covers gender, sexualities, and sexual/gender-based violence. She has published numerous articles in both areas—most recently a chapter entitled ‘‘Corrective’ Sexual Violence in South Africa: A Crime Against the Deviant Sexualised Other’ in Philosophy of Violence: A Multidisciplinary Perspective. In 2015, she was a joint recipient of the Vice Chancellor’s Distinguished Community Engagement Award for her work in community-based action research with the Siyahluma project. She has also been nominated twice for the Vice-Chancellor’s Distinguished Teaching Award. This year (2024), she has been selected as one of two Rhodes University academics invited to join the 5th cohort of TAU (Teaching Advancement at Universities) Fellows.
